Recent innovations in the stability and reliability of radio controlled helicopter and multi-rotor vehicles have made aerial filmmaking now something that was once exclusively a creative tool for only film and TV production budgets something passionate amateurs can discover. I recently wrote an article on the Strong Island Media website (you can read it HERE) about some examples of use for this technology and yesterday discovered the YouTube channel of Jay Wood who makes films with a hexacopter under the banner of Aerocam, filming all over Hampshire, including Southsea.
Jay Wood’s films below captures Southsea and Portsmouth in a new way, able to go higher that the Spinnaker tower and kite mounted cameras but able to fly lower than normal fixed wing and helicopters would do normally. It is well worth a watch. The Jay Wood’s YouTube channel also includes Portchester castle and other places around the county too like Petersfield, Guildford, etc.

Hello. Some corrections for you…
The machine I use to get the aerial video is called a hexrotor or hexacopter, not an aerocam. My organisation is called Aerocam.
Please don’t send people to my youtube channel. Instead they should visit my web site, http://www.aerocam.org.uk
Thank you.
