Hungry for One World Event

Portsmouth One World Week is inviting everyone to their “Hungry for One World Event” at The Hub, Dennis Sciama Building, Burnaby Road, University of Portsmouth, PO1 3FX on Sunday 18th October 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

The event will include workshops on climate change, unity, communication, and public speaking plus presentations and discussions including various faith perspectives on hunger and links between the water we drink and round-about wells in South Africa. There will be information stalls and a Fairtrade fashion show plus games and activities from around the world, exhibitions and quizzes, cultural crafts, Fairtrade fashion and practical actions to strengthen one world.

Sue James says “ This is a wonderful opportunity for people from all the different communities in Portsmouth to get together and share their concerns for our world and our future. The idea is to give people of all ages the chance to choose activities to explore and experience what it means to be part of one world and to reflect on what we all hunger for”.

– Monday to Friday 19th to 24th October Taste a different One World Dish every day and Fair Trade Sales daily every lunch time.
– Tuesday 20th at 7.30pm “Hungry for One World” Quiz. Tickets £5 includes refreshments.
3) Thursday 22nd October , 1pm.
Justice & Peace Prayer at Holy Trinity Church.
4) Friday 23rd October at 7.30pm
Ecumenical Gathering at Sacred Heart Church, Hartlands Road, Fareham.

Havant:
Saturday 24th October 7.30 pm ‘Dance Around the World’
An evening of Circle Dance: easy dances, all taught, to music from around the world. No skill, no experience, no partner needed.

Portsmouth:
Saturday 24th October 12.30pm to 3pm.
Red Cross One World Week Bring and Share Multicultural Meal at the All Saints Church Centre, Commercial Road, Portsmouth.

Titchfield:
Sunday 25th Hungry for One World Creation Walk from Titchfield Church to the Haven and back. Meet at 1pm. Everyone is welcome.

Waterlooville:
Friday 23rd October One World Week Curry Evening at Oaklands School, Waterlooville. Tickets £4 per person and £10 per family from Philip Hayllar at philiphayllar@hotmail.com.
