PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

Southsea Rowing Regatta 2017

This Saturday (15th July) sees the return of the ever popular Southsea Rowing Regatta to Eastney Beach, now in its 157th year! The action starts opposite Lumps Fort (Rose Gardens) at 10am, with nearly 800 competitors from 25 Clubs from across the south, and continues throughout the day until 6pm.

The course itself is 2km in total and runs from The Rose Gardens along to the Royal Marine Statue where crews perform a buoy turn before racing back to the start. Pack your picnic and find a spot along the course to cheer on our local crews with; Will Mahoney in the Men’s Junior Scull, Rose Barrand & Emily Smith in the Woman’s Senior Pairs and Pete Clark & Curtis Pitter the Men’s Senior Pairs have all put in strong performances so far this season. You will also have the opportunity to see the coastal rowing boats up close and talk to the crews too.

Southsea Rowing Club is one of the oldest sporting clubs and only rowing club in Portsmouth. It is based on Southsea seafront, just by the Hoverport, and is open to new members regardless of rowing experience. If you are interested in joining, or just fancy popping in to see what they do, contact them via email.
