Creating Balance Exhibition at Aspex Gallery Only 7 Days To Go

With the arrival of 2014 it means that the Creating Balance Exhibition returns to Portsmouth with the opening on Friday 10th at Aspex Gallery, just 7 days away!

Throughout 2013 the Creating Balance project (a collaborative partnership with Anglepoise®, Strong Island & The University of Portsmouth) brought together 10 local artists/designers and 10 local photographers and paired them up with an Anglepoise® lamp. The aim of these collaborations was to explore how, where & why people creatively work, how they find a sense of balance and to see what could be creatively formed out of these partnerships. By September last year the project had produced 10 collaboration films, thousands of photos, unique lamps and had its opening exhibition in London as part of the London Design Festival, including a presentation talk at the V&A Museum. With a short exhibition in Winchester in November we are really excited to bring Creating Balance back home to where it all began, Portsmouth.

We would love for everyone to come along to Aspex Gallery on the 10th to not only see the work produced (including the unique lamps) and meet all of the contributors but also to help celebrate a project we hope promotes Portsmouth and some of it’s creative talent on to a national stage.

In the countdown to the exhibition opening we will be unveiling the details on the different events happening during the exhibition and also sharing some of the new collaborative work produced by the contributors.
