PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

Koh Thai Tapas

Koh Thai Tapas on Kings Road, Southsea opened in December 2012. Since they took over from 8 Kings Road they haven’t changed with the layout of the venue too much. They have got rid of the gigantic chandelier and decorated with deep ambers and reds which gives the venue a relaxed feel. You will find traditional Thai murals on the walls and ornaments which compliment Thai culture.

I turned thirty last week and my family were badgering me about where I wanted to go to celebrate it. Most of us were first timers there but I had heard good things from various different friends who had been before. I wasn’t disappointed, I found staff were excellent, the service was prompt and they made sure that we never without a full glass. Granted I’ve never been to Thailand but I found the food was nice, presented fantastically and there was plenty of it.

All their food is fresh, hand made authentically and available to take away. You can browse the menu yourself on the Koh Thai website and keep up to date with events via their Facebook and Twitter.

When we were there we also had the pleasure of being serenaded by the lovely Sophie McAdam Clark. Sophie is a classically trained singer who’s repertoire includes easy listening jazz and popular music. She is currently working on getting some songs up on her Facebook but until then I urge you to see her perform at the restaurant on Tuesday evenings.
