The abarbistro on White Hart Road, Old Portsmouth has taken many names over the years, going back two centuries to 1784 when it was called the Shipwrights Arms. I first became acquainted with the restaurant over ten years ago when it was called the American Bar. Since then the family tend to go there every two months at least.
I’ve eaten pretty much everything on the menu, personal favourites being the beer battered fish n chips and the pork belly. I do love a good Belgian beer and the abarbistro delivers by stocking Leffe on tap. If you’re more of a wine lover then you have plenty to choose from, above the restaurant is wine merchants Camber Wines. It’s easy to see why they’ve been featured in the Good Food Guide 2013.
If you haven’t already made plans for 7th June then I recommend getting involved in Fishy Friday. Between 5pm-6:30pm you can order a portion of fish n chips and an eton mess for just £10 per person. I recommend you make a reservation to avoid disappointment!
If you’d like to find out more about the abarbistro then head over to their website HERE. You can stay up to date with whats going on via their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
Last week the restaurant opened their new conservatory which you can see pictured below.
