A new exciting competition just launched by Johnny Starboard. They are a local, independent, lifestyle store inspired by art, music and the elements. “Whether you are into surfing, skating or just want to look good, Johnny Starboard has you covered. We offer a selection of established brands that mirror the Johnny Starboard way of living such as Hurley, Santa Cruz, Animal, Element, Stance, Bawbags and Penny Skateboards.”
ART COMPETITION PROJECT BRIEF: To design and create a piece of artwork for display in the Johnny Starboard shop.
THEME: We Are An Island: Interpretation of Iconic Images of Portsmouth.
ENTRY CRITERIA: To qualify you must be 16 years old or older.
ACCEPTED MEDIUMS: Computer generated art, Street art, Painting, Drawing, Original print, Photography
CONDITIONS: One piece of work per entry. Work must be unique and by the artist(s) named. Maximum size 245cm (H) x 112cm (W).
1. Winning artwork will be on display in the Johnny Starboard store for a minimum of one year.
2. Opportunity to sell limited edition prints of winning piece in Johnny Starboard and potential collaboration to have artwork featured in clothing line.
3. 1 days work experience at ilovedust. ilovedust are a multi-disciplinary design boutique specialising in creative solutions from graphic design and illustration to animation and trend prediction. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY THE ENTRANT
Must live, or be professionally based, in the United Kingdom.
Undertakes that the work is of his/her own origination, and that he or she holds all moral and intellectual property rights in that work.
Accepts, by signing the registration form that the images and art work are entered at the artist’s own risk. The organisers are not liable for any loss or damage incurred.
Accepts that the work submitted will go on display in the Starboard store for a period of one year. Starboard takes no responsibility for any loss or damage incurred to the artwork while on display.
If submitted, the artist agrees to the reproduction of their work (at no fee and not for resale) only in association with the competition (including press/publicity/website & and any other printed material).
Accepts that the Judge’s decision is final.
Only one piece of art may be entered into the competition.
The artist should create and submit a mock-up image of the intended final design listing the proposed mediums to create the artwork and the size.
The image submitted must be true to the final proposed artwork and the Artist must be its author.
The artist must be able to reproduce the image to scale in the Johnny Starboard shop.
The mock-up image and the completed submission form must be submitted via email or if you are unable to submit online we will accept images on a CD, clearly labelled with the completed submission form sent to the following address:
