PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA'S No.1 for ARTS, CULTURE & LIFESTYLE

Carnegie Library

Opened in 1906 and designed by A.E Cogswell. The building is pretty amazing and he designed it for free. Cogswell also designed the Palace Cinema in Guildhall walk. I was lucky enough to run a workshop there last year for the Visual Libraries Project and the design and charm hits you as soon as you enter. I encourage more people to visit this library and take time to wander around and look at the architecture. You can even borrow a book to read in their sensory garden. If only more libraries had this much history and atmosphere.
