Bike 4 Life and Seafront Cycle Route update

Bike 4 Life and Seafront Cycle Route update

You may have heard that Portsmouth has been awarded Healthy Towns Status in line with the Change 4 Life government initiative in order to combat obesity within the city. This status has funding attached which has been split into four different areas, one of which is cycling.

This event is in order to let everyone know about all the fantastic new cycling initiatives and opportunities that are about to open up thanks to this funding. There are opportunities open to all types of organisations and individuals so please come along as we are certain you will get a lot out of it and can help us to spread the word to others around the city. The day will be split into two parts and include a free lunch. Even if you would just like to come to the afternoon session, please come in time for lunch.

Portsmouth City Council’s Bike 4 Life Conference will be held on Friday March 27th at Portsmouth Guildhall from 10am – 3pm.

And finally…

You may remember we did an article on the proposed seafront cycle route a while back. Well the votes are in and verified and the public have chosen Option 1. What happens next? The team will now consider a route. Work will not start until the detailed scheme has been approved by the Council.

Thanks to my man inside the council Martin for helping to keep us updated on this.

I’ll post a link to this article on the Portsmouth Uni Bike Club fb group. I’m sure they’ll have a few ideas.
