Here at Strong Island, we’re proud to champion our local women’s football team, Moneyfields Women. Most recently, we’ve had the honour of sponsoring full-back Emma Moody. As long-time advocates of local creative talent and innovative design, we’re especially excited to be collaborating with the team again as sleeve sponsors on their special limited-edition match day training shirts.
The shirt, designed by Kit & Bone, will be proudly worn by Karl Watson’s Women’s First Team as a match warm-up shirt in the 2025/26 season.
Kit & Bone, a boutique football design and clothing brand, is renowned for offering clubs, fan groups, and brands a bold alternative to the generic kit designs often available to smaller football organisations. Known for their offbeat, expressive style, Kit & Bone lives by the motto “Dull is Dead”—and this bespoke creation certainly embodies that philosophy.

The shirt’s design draws inspiration from the Royal Navy’s HMS Medway, commanded by Commander Jon Fletcher MBE. Based at Portsmouth Naval Base, HMS Medway has served as the Royal Navy’s permanent presence in the Caribbean since 2020, providing humanitarian aid, supporting Britain’s overseas territories, and working alongside regional law enforcement to combat illegal drug trafficking.
The Royal Navy shared: “She provides support to Britain’s overseas territories in the region, acting as a reassuring presence, providing support and humanitarian aid, and working side-by-side with regional law enforcement, helping to stop the flow of illegal drugs from South America to Europe and North America.”
In April 2024, HMS Medway unveiled a striking new dazzle camouflage paint scheme, similar to those seen on HMS Tamar and HMS Spey. Dazzle camouflage—also known as “razzle dazzle”—was famously used in World War I to disrupt enemy targeting by breaking up a ship’s outline with bold, contrasting patterns.

As artist Norman Wilkinson CBE RI, creator of dazzle camouflage, once explained: “The primary object of this scheme was not so much to cause the enemy to miss his shot when actually in firing position, but to mislead him, when the ship was first sighted, as to the correct position to take up… Dazzle was a method to produce an effect by paint in such a way that all accepted forms of a ship are broken up by masses of strongly contrasted colour.”
By distorting a ship’s perceived course, dazzle camouflage forced enemy submarines to miscalculate their approach, keeping them at a disadvantage.
Women’s First Team Manager Karl Watson expressed his excitement for the collaboration: “I’m really excited about this partnership. Portsmouth is synonymous with the Royal Navy, so to be able to pay tribute to the British Armed Forces through this shirt is a fantastic opportunity.”
