Portsmouth Film Society Pop-Up Community Cinema

I feel bad that I’ve only just found out about this. What a great idea. The Portsmouth Film Society shows the best in world cinema, documentary, independent film, animation and classic movies. Members see great films in a social environment, and meet and chat about movies with other film fans, and it gives you the chance to watch great films that you might not otherwise get a chance to see.

Their Pop Up Cinema project is as it’s states, a community cinema. So there’s no membership fee whilst this is running. The upcoming features include the classic Hitchcock tale of mistaken identity North By Northwest, the Oscar nominated ‘A Cat In Paris’ and the simply outstanding return to form with ‘Skyfall’. All these films range from £1.50 to an extremely reasonable £3.

If you can get yourself down to the Havelock Community Centre on Fawcett Road or the Southsea Community Centre at St Paul’s Square, King Street you’ll really be helping support the Portsmouth Film Society with this worthwhile project to help make popular film more accessible at a reasonable price. Check out the latest films showing this Friday 15th February with a series of films from local archives about the of history Portsmouth and the classic Casablanca. Check out the listing HERE
